The Creative Mind Behind D'Agoe
Kristen Schoonover is an educator, children’s author, and the founder of QuestLit Press, an independent publishing imprint building the first levels of the LitRPG reader journey.
With almost twenty years of experience teaching elementary-school children, Kristen has taught English language arts across grades K–5 and currently teaches fourth grade. She holds graduate degrees in elementary education, reading and curriculum and instruction, and teacher leadership.
Kristen is also the creator and host of Keep Reading with Kristen, where she interviews authors and shares books with a growing online community of readers. Her work within the LitRPG community inspired a question:
LitRPG has grown up. Now its readers are having kids. Where are their books?
QuestLit Press grew from that question.
Kristen writes LitRPG specifically for young readers—not adult LitRPG simplified for children, but stories created for the way little readers first experience the world: through language, story, play, and wonder.
Her first books include My First LitRPG Book: Meet Exie, a board book introducing foundational LitRPG vocabulary, and The Adventures of D’Agoe—Quest 1: My Name Is D’Agoe, a picture book about names, family, individuality, and belonging.
Kristen lives in Massachusetts with her family, an ever-growing collection of books, and more story ideas than she could possibly fit into one inventory.
